MISSION

The Carroll Petrie Foundation is a family foundation dedicated to the well-being of all animals and the natural world.

HISTORY

Established in New York City in 1996 by Carroll Petrie, the Carroll Petrie Foundation is a family-led grantmaking organization located in Santa Fe, New Mexico that supports nonprofits working to protect animals and the natural world.

In the Foundation’s early years, its grantmaking reflected Carroll’s diverse interests and commitments to philanthropy including animal welfare; cultural, civic and social institutions; education; and the arts. Carroll served on numerous boards and was recognized by her peers for her philanthropy and as a pillar in New York civic society.

Following Carroll’s passing in 2015, her estate funded the Foundation’s initial endowment and the Board of Directors began developing a focus for the Foundation’s grantmaking around wildlife, habitat protection, and animal welfare.
